How much does a varsity jacket cost?

A custom varsity jacket is two purchases in one: the jacket itself, and the decorations that make it yours. Most families land somewhere between about $250 and $600 once the letter, name, number and a patch or two are added. Here is where the money goes.

The jacket

The biggest single choice is the style, which sets the sleeves. Every Lettered jacket is made by GAME Apparel in the USA: the classic 5000 Varsity Jacket (24 oz melton wool body, genuine leather sleeves) is $270, the 5200 JV with vinyl sleeves and the 5100 all-wool cost a little less.

Smaller choices add up too: leather pocket trim, a hood or special collar, shoulder inserts, extended sizes (2XL and up) and custom knit patterns.

The decorations

Every letter, name, number and patch is priced by method and size. Chenille (the fuzzy, looped letter) costs the most; embroidery the least.
