Varsity jacket sizing: how should a letterman jacket fit?
A varsity jacket should fit like a heavyweight bomber: roomy enough for a hoodie underneath, with the ribbed cuffs and waistband sitting at your wrists and hips.
How it should fit
- Shoulder seams at or just past your natural shoulder
- Cuffs at the wrist bone with arms relaxed
- Waistband at the top of the hips
- Room to move your arms forward without pulling across the back
How to measure
Measure around the fullest part of the chest over a t-shirt, under the arms, with the tape level. Compare with the size chart, or enter height and weight in the Lettered size helper for a suggestion.
Size up or not?
Size up if you'll wear a hoodie underneath, if you're between sizes, or if you're still growing — many students wear their jacket from sophomore year through graduation. Choose an athletic fit for a trimmer look or classic for a traditional, relaxed cut.
